The ancient village of Colyton was established in saxon times and the picturesque Axe River and estuary is nearby amidst the unspoilt countryside. This area is a haven for walkers and the famous South West Coast Path lies close by with spectacular views across Lyme Bay. The Axe Estuary Wetlands, a well-managed wildlife reserve is a very short drive away along with the popular coastal towns of Seaton, Beer, Charmouth, Lyme Regis and West Bay. The popular Seaton Tramway, running along the Axe estuary, stops nearby offering a relaxing way to discover the local area. The local villages are fortunate to have a good choice of public houses, offering a selection of locally sourced produce and local beers. The whole of the Jurassic Coast, now a World Heritage site, is within easy reach and the lovely West Dorset seaside town of Lyme Regis is only 15 minutes away by car with its sandy beach and seafront promenade.
